Our Story...

Welcome! If you are new to Wen’s Crabs, we are excited to meet you. If not, we can’t wait to see you again!.

Living in Anne Arundel County, we were lucky enough to have easy access to the Chesapeake Bay and its many rivers. Our family had a small boat and loved to fish, sometimes right after work or straight from the kids’ school pick up line. 

In addition to his full-time job, in the medical field, Wendell owned a small diving business, where he met many watermen, one of whom was Doug ‘Dougie Dick’s’ Utz, Captain of the Sea Nutz. Quickly becoming friends, Doug introduced Wendell to the commercial crabbing world, and the rest is history.

Wens Crabs was an idea which came to fruition in 2005 and flourishes and grows each and every year. Moving to Carroll County made us question whether to continue crabbing, considering the long drive that would have to be done, on a weekly basis. However, it did not take long for us to realize that we could provide our amazing crabs and seafood, for a very reasonable price, to our new friends in the county. We firmly believe that everyone, even those who do not live near the Bay, deserves to have live or steamed Maryland crabs every summer, and not have to drive too far or pay too much.

We catch our own Maryland blue crabs. We bring them to Carroll County for you to enjoy, live or steamed to perfection! Do you want to have a seafood boil instead? We can get you all your seafood needs, from crawfish and clams to mussels and more. Just ask and we will do our best to get you what you want. However, during the season, our main focus will be on CRABS, and as many of them as we can catch and get back here to you. Lastly, in the off-season, we offer a large variety of additional seafood from crabmeat, shrimp, oysters, fish and more!
